OUR STORY
Evidence based. Effective. Practical
We know prevention is better than cure but all too often it is only once a health condition has developed and is impacting our lifestyle that we decide it is important to take action to address our health.
One in two Australians have at least one chronic disease, with preventable lifestyle factors (poor diet and nutrition, physical inactivity, smoking and alcohol over consumption etc) known to account for at least 70% of the total healthcare burden. Obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, depression and anxiety not only lead to a poor quality of life, they also place a huge demand on the health system that attempts to manage them.
Traditionally, the health professional’s role in assisting patients to change their unhealthy habits and adopt healthier life-long behaviours has been to educate, persuade and prescribe actions to reduce ill-health.
By focusing on preventative health, early intervention and addressing diet and lifestyle, health coaches have the opportunity to help clients manage lifestyle related disease and make a huge impact on the future of Australia’s health.
At Accredited Health Coaching Australia, we've developed health coach training courses, incorporating evidence based health behaviour change interventions and techniques that promote self-efficacy, self-determination and self-responsibility. You'll be introduced to a toolbox of motivational interviewing, positive psychology, the transtheoretical model and health and coaching psychology to assist you in supporting clients to achieve sustainable health behaviours and outcomes.
Written and delivered by health professionals, Accredited Health Coaching Australia courses have been designed to be fully online and flexible, supporting you with practical webinars to ensure you develop the core coaching skills.
